Van Ministry for College students

HCC currently offers Sunday pick-up for students attending American University and UMCP. For students needing a ride on Sunday, please carefully read the information below and get in touch with the respective campus students.

American University

A van is sent out every Sunday morning to AU campus. In order to ensure a spot on the van, students must let Esther know by Friday evening whether or not they'll be needing a ride. AU students usually communicate via Facebook Messenger. If you are a student and you do not communicate the need for a ride on the van by Friday evening, we cannot guarantee a ride to church for the following Sunday. Under no circumstances will be the van pick up additional students than the maximum capacity of 11 passengers.

The van pick-up location is in front of Hughes Hall (across from the KoGod shuttle stop). Students must arrive at the pick-up location no later than 9:15 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Please make every effort to be punctual so that the other students and driver can arrive to service on time.

Following service, AU students are given a ride to Twinbrook metro. Twinbrook is located 6 metro stops away from Tenleytown. It takes approximately 30-45 minutes for students to metro to Tenleytown. If students choose to stick around for lunch or hang out with church members, those students are responsible for finding their own ride to the metro or to campus.

To get plugged into the AU van ministry, contact Esther at: hj2037a@american.edu.

University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP)

A driver with a personal vehicle is sent out every Sunday morning to UMCP. In order to ensure a spot in the car, students must let Alex know by Friday evening whether or not they'll be needing a ride. UMCP students usually communicate via GroupMe. If you are a student and you do not communicate the need for a ride on the van by Friday evening, we cannot guarantee a ride to church for the following Sunday. Under no circumstances will be the driver pick up additional students than the maximum capacity of 4 passengers.

The car pick-up location is in front of Mowatt Garage. Students must arrive at the pick-up location no later than 9:15 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Please make every effort to be punctual so that the other students and driver can arrive to service on time.

Following service, CP students are given a ride to campus. If students choose to stick around for lunch or hang out with church members, those students are responsible for finding their own ride back to school.
